Letter, to Brother from Lee McNicholl, Dec. 29, 1862
Scope and Contents
Writes "We passed a very pleasant Christmas being at the guns all day in expectation of seeing the Yanks every minute but thye did not disturb our batteries. Last Friday they landed a large force on the Yazoo and commenced fighting immediately. Saturday the fighting was kept up all day and also part of Sunday. Where we are we can hear the musketry very plain and the artillery keeps up a perfect roar. Our company is not exactly in the fight. They keep us in Vicksburg where there is lots of light artillery at every corner of the street and most of them captured from the enemy....."
