Scope and Contents

Troy, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, no salutation or other indication of whom written. Describes scenery around Prospect Mt., Lake George, etc., where he has been working. Writes from New Hampshire, where he has been sent upon completion of the survet work at Prospect, and is now awaiting "the freight train to bring the instruments from Rutland." Mentions his concern about the "scourge" (yellow fever) in Louisiana and his hope that "Donaldsonville and all who are near & dear to the residents on Crescent Plantation may escape the fearful ravages of this insatiable pestilence." Note after signature reads "Please address the C.S. Office at Washington."
