Scope and Contents

An original mill built in the 1890's which produced about 800 tons a day. The all-wooden structure closed in the 1920's with the onslaught of sugar diseases, Mosaic. Half of the Louisiana mills were closed during this time and cane was delivered in railroad narrow gauge cars. The mill reopened in 1937 and is located at Leighton Plantation.
