Scope and Contents
This collection consists of manuscripts, notes, letters, correspondence, printed matter, and ephemera relating to the Savoy (or Savoie) Family of South Louisiana. The collection ranges in date from from 1859 to 1907, and includes a number of letters from and financial records concerning E.M. Scott, New Orleans Sugar Factor and Commission Merchant. Much of the collection concerns the Savoy family's business interests during the Reconstruction era and the late 19th century.

Description
Land of sugar plantation. Parish of Assumption on right bank of Bayou Lafourche. Signed before notary, Pierre John Gilbert, January 19, 1885. Other property also included. Mrs. Celestine Hebert, wife of Joseph Savoy, made and appointed her husband as her true and lawful agent and attorney-in-fact with full power to manage and conduct all business transaction. Clerk and Ex officio Recorder Oscar Dugas. Only recorded in Book Conveyances. No. 33, page 274. Parish of Ascension.
