General
This is an original battle map of Iwo Jima. It was issued aboard the USS Duel, early in February 1945, prior to Roland Chiasson invading the island on February 19, 1945. Sgt. Bernard Anderson, Roland Chiasson's squad leader had the map. He was wounded the third day; Corporal James Reeves carried it; Reeves was wounded the fifth day, and then Corp. Roland Chiasson had it; Corp. Chiasson was wounded the ninth day. Maps by then were plentiful so Roland Chiasson kept it.
