Biographical Note
Daniel DuPlantis attended Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana. As a student, his play "Throw Me Something, Mr. God" was awarded the Lorraine Hansberry Playwriting Award, which honors outstanding work from student playwrights of African or Diasporan descent. DuPlantis has also been awarded the Julie Harris Playwright Award from Jackson State University ("Tennessee's Rose," 1999; "The Bayou Merchant," 2000) and first prize for an original theatrical play in the Onassis International Cultural Competition ("Past tenses ever present," 2001).
