This collection spans 1.5 linear feet and dates from 1946 to 1949. The collection comprises three ledgers detailing medical diagnoses and treatments for employees of the Lower Terrebonne Sugar Refinery in Montegut, La.

Biographical / Historical
The Lower Terrebonne Refinery was founded on February 26, 1883, in Montegut, La. In 1891, the the company was liquidated and the Lower Terrebonne Refinery and Manufacturing Company was incorporated the same day. The refinery was bought by Terrebonne Sugar Company in 1912, and again by Dahlberg and Company in 1928. It was purchased by the South Coast Company in 1935. While ownership of the refinery continued to change hands in the 1960s and 1970s, South Coast ran the facility until its closure in 1972. At that time, the mill was completely deconstructed and reconstructed in Guatemala.
