Scope and Contents

This collection dates from 1803 to 1848 and consists of two series comprising 198 lithographic plates. The first series is titled Audubon Prints and contains the folio "Audubon's Vivaporous Quadrupeds of North America." This series dates from 1845 to 1848 contains 76 original prints drawn by John James Audubon and 74 reproductions of paintings made by his son, John Woodhouse Audubon. The second series is titled Shakespeare Prints and contains a folio titled "A Collection of Prints from Pictures Painted for the Purpose of Illustrating the Dramatic Works of Shakespeare, by the Artists of Great Britain." This series comprises 48 lithographs published by John and Josiah Boydell (London) in 1803.
