Biographical / Historical
Dr. B. Joseph Martin was born in 1906 in Bourg, La. He served as a professor of Christian Education and vice president of Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Ky.; vice president of Oklahoma City University in Oklahoma; president of Wesleyan College in Macon, Ga.; president of Taylor University in Upland, Ind.; and director of the Methodist College Foundation for North Carolina. He also served as professor of philosophy at Nicholls State University until his retirement in 1974, whereupon he was awarded Professor Emeritus. After his retirement, he served as the pastor of Bayou Blue United Methodist Church, Berwick United Methodist Church, Matthews Memorial United Methodist Church, and First Presbyterian Church of Houma. Martin died 30 September 1996.
