Scope and Contents
This collection consists of receipts, letters, correspondence, payment vouchers, and bank statements relating to Senator Ellender's re-election campaigns, predominantly the election of 1972. Also included are documents from the Senator's finance committee relating to its efforts to offset the political debt left after Ellender's death.

Biographical Note
Thomas Elward Wright, Jr. (1897-1982) was an attorney, businessmen, and politician from Houma, Louisiana. He was the oldest son of Thomas Wright, postmaster of Houma. After serving in World War I, he became an attorney and was elected mayor of Houma in 1928. Wright was a business partner and friend of Senator Allen J. Ellender, and served as a campaign manager and close advisor to Ellender throughout his political career.
