Scope and Contents
This collection dates from 1850 to 1873 and comprises legal documents, letters, receipts, and notes relating to law enforcement and personal property in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana. Materials of note include the estate of Jeannette Simoneaud Seely and several documents appointing individuals to serve as patrolmen prior to and during the Civil War. Several documents relate to purchases, inheritances, or laws regarding enslaved people in Lafourche Parish.
