Scope and Contents
This collection contains papers from the LaGarde, Ledet, LeBlanc, and Caillouet families. It includes tax notices and receipts, bills, promissory notes, business receipts, funeral and burial receipts, voter registrations, Civil War documents, photographs, pins, and two volumes.

Biographical Note
The LaGarde, Ledet, LeBlanc, and Caillouet families from the Bayou Lafourche region of southeastern Louisiana were interrelated during the 19th century through marriage. Joachim Pierre LaGarde Sr. was born 8 May 1830 in Thibodaux, La. In addition to working as a planter, he owned and managed a brickyard. Auguste Isidor Ledet was born 23 May 1807 and became a farmer in Lafourche Parish. Jean Marie LeBlanc was born ca. 1809 in Plattenville, La. He was the brother of Simon Pierre and Modeste LeBlanc who was married to Auguste I. Ledet. Joseph Lucien Caillouet was born 1 April 1825 in Convent, La. During his life, Caillouet was a farmer and plant manager, being appointed as Captain in the Internal Improvement Dept. of La. in 1859.
