This collection consists of title searches, business records, ledger books, correspondence, maps, invoices, and genealogies of the Littlejohn, Whitmell-Bryan, and Pugh-Martin families.

Biographical / Historical
Robert Campbell Martin, Sr. was born to Peter Boyd Martin (1777-1838) and Janet Smith Bryan (1789-1818), in Bertie County, North Carolina in 1813. He married Mary Winifred Pugh also of Bertie County, Carolina. They had six children: Robert Campbell Jr., Mary Janet, William Whitmel, James Bryan, Thomas Pugh, and Peter Boyd. Martin bought Albemarle plantation in Assumption Parish, Louisiana which was a sugar plantation. After Martin's death in 1881, his descendents continued to operate Albemarle for several generations.
