Biographical / Historical
Benjamin F. Morse served with Company E in the Eighth Vermont Infantry of the United States Army during the Civil War. During this time, he traveled with the army to Louisiana, where he was present during the federal occupation of New Orleans.

Original letters were loaned by a private owner to be microfilmed for the Vermont Civil War Centennial Committee by the Vermont Public Records Division in 1962.
