Biographical / Historical

The Louisiana High School Boxing Hall of Fame Collection originated as an exhibit located at the Iberville Museum in Plaquemine, Louisiana. The exhibit opened in 2015 and finally closed in 2024 after which the materials were donated to the Nicholls State University Archives. Donald "Don" Landry was the driving force behind the Hall of Fame and original exhibit. In 2013, 33 boxers were inducted into the Hall of Fame and an additional 32 were inducted the following year. At Landry's request, the Iberville Museum agreed to house the Hall of Fame exhibit which included memorabilia, photographs, and history of several high school boxers from Louisiana in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. Much of the research used for the exhibit was gathered for a book written and self-published by Landry in 2011, "Boxing: Louisiana's Forgotten Sport."
