Scope and Contents
This collection contains 498 (45 rpm) records, 169 (33 1/3 rpm) albums, seventy-nine audio cassettes, and six "cart" (cartridge) tapes which were created by the studio and used for various broadcasting purposes. The recordings consist of Cajun music from local and national recording artists.

Biographical Note
Billy J. Pitre was born in 1960 in Cut Off, La. and moved to Thibodaux, La. in the early 1980s. After acquiring a B.A. in Speech and a FCC license from the University of Southwestern Louisiana (University of Louisiana at Lafayette), he worked as a disc jockey for KTIB Radio in Thibodaux from 1986-1996. He performed the "Billy Pitre Cajun Show" entirely in French which consisted of presenting news, weather, and playing requests for Cajun French music. In 1993, his show evolved into "Allons Danser" that presented live-only music at the local Howard Johnson Inn.
