Scope and Contents

This collection contains various newspapers published primarily during the Civil War era. It includes two periodicals published in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries that contain Civil War photographs and stories. The collection also includes one poster from the WWII era printed by the U.S. Treasury Dept.

Biographical / Historical

Benjamin Clark Vega was born 17 June 1909 in Donaldsonville, La. He received his D.D.S. diploma from the University of Louisville Dental School in Kentucky and became a resident of Napoleonville, La. He and his son, Benjamin C. Jr., collected these materials just prior to the anniversary of the Civil War while they were members of the Nicholls Civil War Roundtable.
