Scope and Contents This collection comprises documents, photographs, and audio recordings relating to Laurel Valley Plantation in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana. The materials relate predominantly to efforts made between 1970 and 1979 to document and preserve the history and physical buildings of the plantation. These include correspondence, meeting minutes and publicity, photographs, grant applications, sketches, notes, and research materials. Scope and Contents This collection contains the business records of Laurel Valley and Melodia Plantations and owner J. Wilson Lepine. These records include correspondence, letter books, account books, payroll records, plantation diaries, invoices, and sugar mill records. Of particular interest are the thirteen plantation diaries which span the years 1903-1915 which give a day by day account of life and labor on a Louisiana sugar plantation in the early twentieth century.
