Scope and Contents

This collection covers 21 linear feet and spans 1933-2013 with the bulk of the materials dating 1947-2010. The collection primarily consists of scrapbooks, artifacts, ephemera, exhibit placards and other related materials.

The exhibit placards in this collection document the Hall of Fame and high school boxing history. Photographs of high school boxers from various championships and matches are featured. They also contain information pertaining to state championships, coaches, reunions and Hall of Fame inductions.

The scrapbooks in this collection include newspaper clippings, photographs and match programs. One scrapbook includes profiles, stories and career highlights from many Hall of Fame members. Another scrapbook contains New Iberia reunion photographs. Hall of Fame induction videos and interviews with former boxers conducted in 2010 and 2011 are listed in the audio-visual series.

Several programs from boxing tournaments and championships are available.

The equipment series contains boxing equipment such as boxing gloves and shoes. Additionally, there are uniforms, letterman's jackets and sweaters.

Awards and trophies include the Brink trophy, outstanding boxer, S.C.L.D. Champions, Lightweight, etc. There are various medals and patches. Of note are a 1933 state championship medal and a Camelia Bowl patch.

An oversized bell used at boxing matches for Plaquemine High School is one of the more prominent artifacts in the collection.
