Scope and Contents
This collection dates from 1942 to 1945 and spans six linear feet. The collection comprises one scrapbook containing primarily letters, photographs, foreign currency and printed materials sent by servicemen and women of Thibodaux, Louisiana to the editors of the newsletter "The Town Talk." Printed materials include newspaper clippings, postcards, propaganda, mayoral proclamations, and news releases. The materials in this collection relate to the wartime experience of Thibodaux residents both in the armed in forces and on the home front.

Biographical / Historical
The Town Talk was a newsletter published during World War II by citizens of Thibodaux, La. It was started in March 1942 by Ambroise and Althae Clement Landry as a newsletter for Thibodaux men and women serving in the armed forces. Other editors and contributors included Charles Naquin, Amy Clement, Gene Knobloch, Jr., Van Stevens, Emma Shaw, Grace Navarre, Grace Folse, Leona Melancon Gaubert, Claudia Shaw Bourgeois, Doris Barrios Foret, and Marie Bernard.
