Naquin Scrapbook
Scope and Contents
This collection covers 3 linear ft. and spans 1855-1939 with the bulk of material dating 1870-1890. It includes a scrapbook converted from an 1855 account ledger by Odile and Emeline that documents St. Valerie School, their family and friends, local events, and World War I. It contains newspaper clippings, wedding invitations, Confederate currency, poems, foreign postage stamps, obituaries, and death notices. In addition to the scrapbook, the collection includes photographs, printed matter, and two newspaper titles.

Biographical / Historical
Marie Odile and Emeline Naquin established and operated St. Valerie School in Thibodaux, La. beginning in 1868. The sisters taught at St. Valerie until Odile's death in 1895. Thereafter, Emeline continued to teach for several more years before retiring.
