Scope and Contents Writes "We passed a very pleasant Christmas being at the guns all day in expectation of seeing the Yanks every minute but thye did not disturb our batteries. Last Friday they landed a large force on the Yazoo and commenced fighting immediately. Saturday the fighting was kept up all day and also part of Sunday. This collection comprises copies of letters and other documents relating to Lee McNicholl's service in the Confederate Army between 1862 and 1864. The letters were written by Nicholl to family members and include accounts of his travels with the Confederate Army in Mississippi (Corinth and Vicksburg) and Louisiana (Shreveport).
